Wide loads

These goats are Patches and Saphy.  They both had quadruplets last year.  They are not due for 2 months but are looking mighty wide.  We are expecting quads (and bottle babies) again this year.

On a sad note, our Satin Angora buck Pepe died yesterday.  The day before he was eating and pooping normally so we do not know what happened.  He was five years old, and we purchased him from the Rios family of California.  He produced lovely bunnies in a variety of colors.  He was also friendly and had nice black angora fiber.  He will be missed.

I’m sorry to hear about Pepe. He looked like he was a gorgeous bunny. He had a GREAT home with you. It’s too bad you don’t know WHY he died. We’ve had some chickens like that lately. I’m so sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear about Pepe. About how long to Satin Angoras usually live?

    • The average is probably 5-7 years with the maximum being about 10 years. They are still pretty rare so hard to know for sure. I will have to look at my own records to see what my exact experience has been.

I found you again. My son restored my computer and I lost all my favorites. Sorry to hear about your rabbit. It is hard to lose an animal unexpectedly.
Nice picture of the wide loads. Mine are just starting to show their bellies. We haven’t had any babies here in about 7 years so I’m really looking forward to kidding season.

Sorry for your loss. It’s always hard to lose a pet, especially when it is unexplained. Nature works in strange ways. We had our first calf born on the farm today and I was so nervous. Our cow Harley, is a good mom but last year it was cold and she laid on her calf in the barn and smothered it just trying to keep it warm. You always try hard to do your best but sometimes nature just takes its own turn.
