RIP Little Tail Dragger

Our little paralyzed bunny died this morning.  He had been fine one hour before when Tom tried to “milk” him (which means putting pressure on his bladder to get him to pee).  He wasn’t able to pee, but otherwise was fine.  Then I found him dead.  His bladder probably burst. I hope it was relatively painless for him.  I never took a good photo of him, since I was trying not to get attached, but that didn’t work.  He was the cutest bunny ever, and I was starting to think he would be OK.  I did know there was a good chance this was going to end badly, but there was nothing I could do to stop this sad progression.  He was so innocent and just trying to nurse when his mother attacked him.  I hope he realized anyway that he was loved by us.  And he will be sorely missed.

They steal our hearts without even trying, then leave them shattered when we lose them. I understand, and I’m so sorry.

My sympathies. Hope the others are still okay.

I’m sorry you lost the little bunny. You made a valiant effort to save him and keep him comfortable. If I was an animal, I’d want to be one of yours!

  4. So sorry to hear of your little bunnie. You folks are great people for showing so much love and attention to your animal companions. I suppose I didn’t really appreciate how hard nature can be until we moved to our farm. Speaking from personal experience, it’s so difficult losing even tiny little baby bunnies. Anyway, y’all did all that you could for him. Take care. Ken and Mary of Fancy Fibers Farm, Texas

Oh, that is SO sad! Even when we know the likely outcome, we just have to TRY to help them. And there’s just no way not to CARE!

    I’m sorry.

Wishing you a Happy Mother’s Day.
    You DESERVE it!

I am so sorry to hear about your bunny. Sometimes those tragic ones are the ones that effect us the most.

  7. Thanks for the comments. It really helps, especially since you guys know what I am feeling. I know it is for the best, but it still hurts.

Sorry to hear about your little bunny. Reminds me of my wife and one of her favorite Dominiques this past week end. Her favorite hen was fine all day and when we went to put them up, she was dead in the hen house. Wendy didn’t take it very good at all.
