It’s currently winter although some days feel like spring. The ground is muddy and some of the goats and sheep are bred- due in April. We have three kids born January 15th from when the buck escaped in August and bred a doe too early. They were very chilled when I found them one hour after they were born. They are thriving now and oh so cute! Chores involve feeding and watering everyone which is great exercise! We’re just trying to keep the peace here and the predators at bay. We really want spring to get here and more light- it’s pretty dark and wet right now!

There it is- the beginning six years ago today- complete with a typo. This blog experience has been a very good one for me. It is kind of like a diary, like a method of communications, a book, and a social networking vehicle. I have met lots of blog buddies and have found my thinking has changed. I often consider how would I put this in a blog when witnessing things on the farm. Thanks for hanging in there with me!
Congratulations! Your little kids have such beautiful coloring, I can’t wait until my kids are born.
Thanks! Those kids are also 6 years old. They sold to homes in Carnation, Seattle and Dear Island. One sadly died kidding at age 2, and I have not received updates on the other two. Hopefully they are leading happy goat lives.

Quite a milestone! I just had my first anniversary, and I thought that was good. I have to admit that blogging helps me stay motivated to get things done instead of just vegging at night.

Happy Blogaversary! I love and am inspired by all that you share here. I started my blog last June, and am finding, as you say in this post, that it’s influenced my thinking. Thinking about writing what we see and what we do, I think makes us more conscious of the process we are involved in. Thanks for continuing, and all the thought and hard work that go into your postings.

Thanks Zakgirl! I have definitely lived and learned in the process but still find myself deeply humbled. I do not thinking I am a great writer, but I do notice myself experimenting with different styles here and there. Interesting progressing.
I did start this blog out for people thinking about or starting a farm like ours. I felt like the realities of it were not well portrayed in the more traditional writings available. I have strayed somewhat from its original purpose, but you definitely can find the trials and tribulations of having a small farm in here.
Happy Blogiversary too! I know I have enjoyed (and still do!) your blog over the years and I have learned a lot from it too. Keep it up, I look forward to reading it. Some day I will get back to mine. I lost momentum when the lightening fried my computer. Now I have my computer back and it’s hard to get started again even though I want to. I don’t know how other people who homeschool 2 busy teens, help their self employed husbands, take care of animals, help out with church stuff etc, etc, find time to blog!
