Skirted fleeces #1

I managed to skirt 11 fleeces today.  Above are photos of most of them.  A couple of them are gorgeous- they take my breath away (Jemima’s and Jocko’s).  Most are average.  And a couple are unsellable (not shown)- one was felted, and one had a break.  Timmy’s black lamb fleece has a lot of VM (he likes to eat under the feeder), but it is so pretty, soft, and unique otherwise maybe someone will want to take it home.  There’s more information on the fleeces on our Fiber for Sale page.  So now my back is killing me, and I have 20 more to go.  These will have to wait for another day!

Meanwhile, Tom is getting serious about the garden.  He’s starting seeds in the greenhouse.  He put a little electric heater out there to encourage them.

I’m still skirting and washing LAST YEAR’s fleeces!

    🙁

I love the greenhouse! I could build one of those…

What does it mean when a fleece has a “break”?

Love the greenhouse. I have my seeds sprouting on the front porch, encased in plastic with a heater.

    • This is the first year we have used it to sprout seeds. It is cool there but hopefully the heater will help. Usually we use a window sill but we are trying to double the size of our garden this year.

Some lovely fleeces there. I’m afraid I’m not on top of my last year lot either! I’ve usually sold them all by now but it has gone by the wayside with moving and everything. You’ve inspired me to get cracking!

The fleeces look so nice. Love those golden browns. How is Lou doing? Does he seem to be healing up alright?

    • Thanks Denise! I am partial to mioget too. Lou is doing OK- peeing well. He is scared of me now though which is sad because he was one of the friendly ones. At least now he will stay in the same barn, earlier he would run out when I came in. He won’t even come for animal crackers but maybe he’ll forgive me some day.
