Yahoo died this weekend. He was one of our bucks, out of Cody and Dotcom. He had been castrated this year and was supposed to have a long retirement. Here he is as a youngun.
He was in good condition 2 weeks ago with good color. But then he suddenly became thin and less interested in eating. He acted like his teeth hurt. So I noticed some sharp spikes on his molar teeth and trimmed them down. I wormed him, gave him Nutri-Drench and pain medication. I gave him some grain, wetted alfalfa cubes and pumpkin. If he did not improve on this over the weekend I was going to bring him to the vet. He became chilled, and I set up a warming pad for him. But despite all of this he died. It all seemed so sudden.
He was a nice goat with flashy colors. And he was only 6 years old. He fathered 6 kids for us (Fannie Mae, Sherlock, Sugar Magnolia, Sophia, Shortcake and Mockingbird) as well as many kids for other breeders. We will be sorely missed 🙁
Donna, so sorry to hear about Yahoo. I had to look up my records, and I am happy to say, I have two of his prodigies, Peace and Justice. (And their mom and younger siblings, as well!) Justice is my beautiful buck who has thrown many kids for us now, and will be used for stud service in the near future. He is my little known favorite, because he is friendly to me, even with his big, beautiful horns we let him grow! He definitely rules the roost of my two bucks in the pen, but I love him, and so happy to know he is a prodigy of Yahoo. Yahoo has a special place in our heart, thanks for sharing him with us.

Thanks Mary Ann! I feel I should have called the vet on Friday when I noticed he was sick but he was eating some and I thought the problem was his teeth. I did not notice anything until Friday and obviously he had been hiding it since he was already thin and pale by then.
