Gardening and Enjoying the Farm’s Products

Our garden has been delayed this year by the near constant rain this spring and the cottonwood trees that fell on it, the hothouse and the greenhouse.  Thankfully, mostly because of Tom’s hard work, we have the garden clear of tree debris and it is now rototilled (above).  The green house has been temporarily fixed and the hothouse is fixed but still needs plastic (below).  We have peas, carrots, parsnips, radishes, chard and beets planted.  In the greenhouse we have tomatoes, squash, pumpkins, beans, lettuce, spinach, and peppers started.

So today I have also been using some of our farm’s goods.  For lunch I had an egg* salad with bread and butter pickles* over a bed of lettuce*.  I hard-boiled extra eggs and made canned pickled eggs*.

Unrelated to the farm I am fermenting Sima for May Day.  I made Rhubarb** Compote to go over Scandinavian Almond Cake.

For dinner tonight there will be grilled pork chops* with steamed asparagus.  The cake and compote will be dessert.

Amazing what a huge start you guys have gotten on your garden; mind-boggling given the number of set-backs you’ve had!!!
