We got the call at around 6:30 this morning that our chicks were at the post office.  Tom ran down there while I checked out pregnant cow and got the chick pen ready.  Above is a photo of them in their shipping box from Iowa.  Below they are loose in their new home.

We are trying a new chick heater.  It is a warm plate that sits just above them, like a hen would.  It is supposed to be less of a fire hazard than heat lamps are.  My father got it for me for Christmas, and this is our first time using it.  So far, so good.

I love the sound of chicks cheeping.  I have missed it.
