So I am getting our fleeces ready.  They are getting dry.  So I take each one and evaluate it.  I skirt off the parts that do not belong and judge them.  I take individual locks and make sure they are strong and photograph them on 3×5 inch index card.  It is assessed for vegetable matter (VM) and double cuts (DC).  I photograph the fleeces as well.  Then they are weighed and if felt to be good enough, put up for sale.  There are photos of the individual sheep here.  They are mostly Shetland sheep with some exceptions which are noted.

The first is from Bambam Too.  Unfortunately I did not have good lighting for these photos as this fleece color is a gorgeous golden brown (mioget) color.  The last photo shows his color best.  His fleece is a very pretty color, is weathered, and has some VM, It has a nice crimp and is a big fleece with minimal DC.  It was lightly skirted.  It weighs 3 # 14oz and is for sale for $46.

Next is Jewel’s fleece.  Her wool is weathered but has varying pretty grey colors.  There is some VM and DC.  It has a nice crimp in the neck.  It is 3# and available for $36.

Next is Amanda’s fleece.  Her wool is a beautiful chocolate brown (the bottom two photos show her color best).  She was rooing before shearing, and her fleece is weathered. There is a moderate amount of VM and minimal  DC.  It has a nice crimp, but there are some flakes along the back,.  It weighs 2.5# and is for sale for $30.

Next is Harlen’s fleece.  His wool is huge for his size and of a primitive style with varied fleece types.  It was lightly skirted to preserve these characteristics.  It does have a lot of  VM, but has a real pretty color.  It is coarse, weathered, and long.  It appears he got into some sawdust. There is a moderate amount of DC.  It weighs 4# 12 oz and is for sale for $57.

Next is Huey’s fleece.  His is soft, weathered, and has a small amount of VM.  It is a nice color and had heavy skirting to preserve its softness.  It weighs 3# 14 oz and is $46

Next is Maybelle’s Gotland, Finn and Shetland fleece.  It has moderate amounts of VM.  It has a nice crimp, is big fleece, and is not as weathered as the others.  Her white neck wool was felted and skirted off.  There is minimal DC and a nice sheen.  It weighs 4# 10 oz and is $55
