Today in the hay loft, I was surprised by this fellow.
We think it is a Barred Owl. The peahen was quite upset with the intrusion. We are hoping he is OK but happy to have him here as long as he wants to stay.

Yep, a Barred owl – very cool! I see them occasionally here, but more usually I hear them. Hopefully this one is just looking for a warm place to hang out, and not perusing the menu.
Maureen
We hear them all the time but never see them and certainly not in the barn. Hopefully just a warm place and can have some rodents.
oh its so cute!!!
She/he was cute but is gone today. Thankfully none of our critters seem to be gone so I think it was just a respite from the cold.
What a beautiful bird. Let me know if he/she comes back…
No sign of her/him since that day. I do worry maybe there was something wrong that made him/her land in our barn.
