Above is a photo of my great grandfather Emil Johnson making hay, presumably on his farm near Port Orchard. And below is his wife, my great grandmother, Elin Johnson doing the same.
We have been looking into making our own hay too. We are hoping modern machinery will help us so we do not have to work quite as hard as Emil and Elin did.
I love those old photos! It amazes me when I think of all that hard work those women had to do, with helping in those fields on top of all the house work and raising the family.
