A Better Farm Day

Steve is getting better but still hating being inside.  Without our guard dog, Tom was not aware that we had an interesting visitor last evening.

I am worried about this guy.  He looks really thin and underclothed on a stormy night.  He may be confused as well.  He walked off down our busy road with no shoulder in the dark.

None of our animals died today.  Izzy is enjoying a reject fleece rug on the back porch.

And in the hay loft, I found chicks under a desk we have up there.  I counted 8 of them, but there may be more.  I can’t reach them but was able to get food and water for them.  Hopefully they will be OK up there.

So another installment in the story of our little farm.

I’m concerned about your visitor too. Are you able to understand what he said?
I’m glad Steve is getting better!
Those little chicks are really cute. I hope they’ll be okay.
    Have a great day.

We couldn’t. So I am not sure if he is confused or not. I hope the chicks will be OK. The mother hen picked a good spot where they shouldn’t fall but we can’t catch them.

Wow, what a day yesterday. Sorry you had to deal with that. I have only seen fly strike once, Thank God not on my flock, my father’s and it was a “put this poor hen down IMMEDIATELY” situation.
Your nightime visitor was really disturbing. That he showed up at your place and did look hungry and desperate. Hope he found his way to a safe, warm place.

We have seen fly strike a few time. We were able to save a sheep from it but not this hen. Horrible thing to happen. I hope he found somewhere to stay.
