Birds

On the farm there are lots of birds, both wild and domestic.  Yesterday this bald eagle dropped a branch into the field with the cows.

This is its mate moving other material to build a nest.

This is an old red hen that found an old tire to die in.

Here are the eggs I collected this morning.

And this is part of the gauntlet you have to go through to get some of these eggs.

And here are our 14 youngest chicks growing up and getting ready to be released into the barnyard.  They will join the 15 bigger ones.

We also have peafowl and geese but no longer have ducks or pheasants.  Then there are the multitude of songbirds, swallows, other birds of prey, vultures, wild waterfowl, herons, hummingbirds, woodpeckers, gulls, and doves.  These are the birds we live with (and die here) on Schoonover Farm.

Very beautiful birds! All of them! Did I see a goose egg in the one picture? It was definitely bigger.
It would be exciting to have eagles on one’s. Property!

That is a goose eggs. It is a mixed bag with the eagles. They are majestic but they kill our chickens and decimated our ducks.

I forgot to mention the crows and ravens here too.
