Harvesting Time

Before I get into harvesting, I thought I would start with some animal photos.  This is Porky enjoying the morning sun in her food trough.

And this is Tom dusting the cows.  When we returned from our trip on Thursday, I harvested some tomatoes ad cucumbers.  Tom picked some beans.  Friday when I was at worked Tom picked peaches, apples and plums.  Yesterday I picked zucchini, more cucumbers and plums, sweet peas, roses, blackberries,

and mint.  With the abundance of zucchini I made Chocolate Zucchini muffins adapted from a recipe in the Cottontail Farm blog.

I also made Grilled Zucchini Pizza Slices.  These recipes were both good, but I barely made a dent in my zucchini harvest.  Next will be dehydrated zucchini chips and animal feed.

That’s quite a harvest! I’m sure it’s not done, though. It all looks beautiful. We’re the chocolate zucchini muffins yummy? I’ve made chocolate zucchini cake, but not muffins.

My daughter made a paleo banana cake recently. It was delicious!! It didn’t even need frosting! I think it’s time to make another one. We can do yellow zucchini recipes, but she can’t eat the green ones! And thanks for including the lovely flower photo!

Thanks. The muffins were quite yummy. I added extra chocolate chips though. Tom said it was almost too chocolatey, whatever that means!

My chickens LOVE zucchini, but I don’t often have an abundance I’m willing to share. Even the giant ones are put to use; I make candy! https://sweetmissdaisy.typepad.com/sassy_sweet_notes/2010/08/what-to-do-with-a-5-pound-zucchini.html

Michelle…I did go and check out the recipe for zucchini candy, a bit ago! I’m amazed at myself, that i missed the link! But I’ll let you and Donna make the candy. – Someone has quite an imagination, too come up with the recipe!
