Pandemic Christmas Prep

This was the moon over our farm last night.

I have been getting the house ready for Christmas even though we will not be having anyone over this year.  So it is entirely for my benefit.  The first task was getting the liquid advent calendar ready for the first of the month.

Then I put lights up on the back porch and the front of the house.

I am getting lazier each year with the Christmas lights.  No more ladder and plastic gutter clips.

Next was getting the inside decorations done.  This required a beverage thanks to the advent calendar.

I got the Christmas tree going.

And hung just two stockings by the pellet stove.

I created a display on a marble table top with a variety of Christmasy things I have acquired over the years.

And I have the Christmas cups ready for their morning coffees with holiday flavors.

So the house feels a little Christmasy now. It is a sad year, but this is connecting me with my traditions.

As an aside, I am getting used to cooking with venison for the first time. Last night we had yummy Venison Stew and tonight we are having Marinated Venison Steaks. Both seem appropriate for the season.

Oh my goodness, check out Hank Shaw’s website for all things venison. I have his book Buck Buck Moose and it’s gourmet game cooking. Venison is absolutely delicious medium-rare.

Your decorations are pretty. I like the lights.
I just got word this afternoon that my oldest granddaughter’s husband was exposed to COVID – he tested positive, has the symptoms, and now she also has the symptoms. They have three children who are nine and under. It’s very upsetting.
