Three days ago Tom told me he is calling our new rooster “Big Red”.
I thought this was a great name for him. We have named a few of our chickens over the years, ones who were distinctive. We have had Mr.Pickles, Cogburn, Hitler Chicken, Little Man, Henny Penny, and Cocky Locky.
Unfortunately today Little Man is looking ill. He is getting old for a chicken. I moved him into the Chicken Nursing Home pen and fed him treats. We are hoping he recovers.
Of course, today was the inauguration!
I made a slideshow of the images I saw on television of this historic event:
I made a Venison Pot Roast for dinner. I used our parsnips, carrots, onions, and rutabagas for this recipes so it was a farm meal.
Here is the venison roast all cooked up.
Here are the fireworks that accompanied our meal.
And here is my meal, hopefully starting a new, more positive era in my country’s history.
I have great relief and hope.
Happy New year! We recelebrated today!
Love!
I really enjoyed watching the inauguration this morning. I hope and pray that all will go well for our new administration.
Your new rooster is really a beautiful bird, with great coloring. I was interested in all the names you’ve given some of your chickens over the years. You two have good imaginations!
I’m sorry Little Man is doing poorly. I hope he can snap out of it, whatever it is.
Your dinner looked delicious!
I hope and pray as well Jeanne. For the administration and more selfishly for Little Man.
Amen.
Happy Inauguration Day! Big Red is a handsome guy- do you know what breed? Hope Little Man feels better
Big Red is a Bielefelder. I hope Little Man is OK this morning. I haven’t checked on him yet this morning but at bedtime he was doing OK. I wish I knew what Little Man was (he was a drop off).
