Yesterday was Goat Maintenance which basically what we do each month except also giving copper boluses. Here is Billy on the stand with Tom getting things ready in the background.
In Billy’s case though there is extra work. He has a bad wheel that the vet showed us how to add Bovibond to in order to straighten it and improve his gait. The last Bovibond hoof came off about 1 week ago so he is due for a replacement.
Fortuantely I found the part that feel off so Tom just added so of the Bovibond glue to it,
And then added more after it was placed on his hoof.
I know it is not pretty but it works.
We were both exhausted after goat wrangling and fell asleep early.
Today, I picked the New England Boiled Dinner from this 1950 Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook.
I bought it in Memphis in 2018 in a cool building salvage shop there.
Here is the recipe. I thought it was appropriate for Saint Patrick’s Day.
Here are the vegetables cooked.
And here is my meal complete with a Guinness.
I am wearing my Ben and Jerry’s T-shirt (the only thing I have that has both green and orange on it) and enjoying my meal.
And in great news, Tom go this first coronavirus vaccine today, the first day of his eligibility. He received the Moderna vaccine. I am so proud of him as he worked hard to find this appointment and get his eligibility verified. It is a great sense of relief that this will decrease both of our chances of getting this nasty virus.
