Gardening

We did the animal chores this morning.  It has been cloudy and rainy.  There was a break in the weather while I was finishing the tasks, and I noticed that the clouds were silhouetting the trees on the hill, and I thought it looked beautiful.

Then the clouds opened up more and revealed the trees on the top of the hill. Again I was mesmerized.

Then my attention turned to the garden.  And I noticed our first tomato of the year.  It is small and green, but I am still excited.

I did tend to the tomatoes.  I sprayed copper sulphate (organic) on them to try to control blight. And I caged the falling over tomatoes in the hothouse.  So far, so good!

Then my attention turned to the weeds.  I tried burning some, which worked until the propane ran out.  This had been my weeding plan for this year, but I hadn’t done it yet.  We shall see if it worked.  But without propane I went to the hoe, rake and my hands.  I got quite a bit done.

I am proud of myself.  I am performing physical tasks despite my fatigue, palpitations and shortness of breath.  And I am making such progress overcoming my infirmities.  I push myself to try to improve my health (muscle weakness, weight and stamina).  It is a fine line as if I overdo it with my adrenal insufficiency, I can relapse.  So I am so far riding that line well, and the garden is looking good, considering.

Tom cooked us a lovely ham dinner, and now we are watching Mick Fleetwood and Friends Celebrate the Music of Peter Green.  It has been a good day.

You did very well today, Donna! Just remember to try to not overdo.
I love the pictures you got, especially the ones of the clouds over the trees. – We get views similar to those as we drive from here to the city, when the weather is right. It’s so awesome, as you know!

Thanks Jeanne! I am trying not to overdo it. We don’t often get the clouds intermingled with the trees here so it was pretty.
