Yesterday Tom hauled all of our haying equipment off to the auction. It is not working as well as he had hoped, and he is tired of dealing with it. The equipment is too large for our tractor, and he is nervous that it will become damaged if we keep using it. He wants to recoup our looses and get in more appraise equipment.
The problem is that we can’t afford nicer equipment and also keep buying thousands of dollars worth of hay each year. So we shall see. But I am sad. I had enjoyed the haying work and felt briefly like a real farmer. Oh well.
I wanted to post this photo for Jeanne. The duck is holding up way better than Mr. Bills but is getting showing signs of abuse. Two of the squeakers are out, but there still are 4 more.
And finally I wanted to post about our dinner from Monday night. It was from a recipe called How to Roast a Chicken like Jacques Pepin. It it was really, really good.
Donna, I’m sorry about the haying equipment. I understand, though, from what you wrote. You definitely don’t want to ruin your tractor.
I can hardly believe the condition of Ryeleigh’s duck! She is a lot harder on her toys that Rico is, but she’s probably bigger, too. Rico is really small, at only 9 lbs 4 oz. I don’t know if that would make that much difference. His duck looks practically new, compared to what you pictured. I’m sorry!!
Ryeleigh is about 15 pounds. She is hard on equipment though. Don’t be sorry. This duck lasted much better than anything else and she is still playing with it. The last Mr. Bill only last a few days.
P.S. When I showed Marlys the picture of Ryeleigh’s duck, she was puzzled, not only by the condition, but also by the color. Rico’s duck is yellow and orange, and in much better condition. She’s wondering if they are using inferior materials now. Rico has had his duck for about a year. We’ll send a picture later.
The colors were much more vibrant when we got it. It is just dirty now, and I don’t dare wash it in its dilabidated state.
