Today was British Tea and Welsh shearing. I chose the tea because I received this book for Christmas from my cousins.
This involved two intense days of cooking including using equipment and ingredients I do not usually use.
I set up one table (in the living room) for the tea preparation. I used dishes and silverware that I had inherited from my grandmother. I noticed the two tea pots were made in England. We do not know if they are from my grandparents’ generation or if they inherited them. Here is my table set up and the guests arriving.
I had purchased some Downton Abbey teas for this event in early January. Here are the teas.
And I set up another table (in the dining room) for the treats.
Here is what I made. It was a lot of work but totally worth it.
But our Welsh shearer was early so there was not much time for Tom and I to enjoy our food and drink. It was shearing time!
And then it was over.
I believe a good time was had by all (except maybe the sheep, but they will enjoy losing that wool soon).
WOW! What a lot of work you went through to prepare that English Tea! It looks wonderful!
I really don’t think I would care to shear sheep. Whenever I have seen shearing done, I’m always amazed at how calm the sheep are during the process.
I’ll bet you were tired! I like the picture of you and the shearer.
A question: Is black treacle similar to molasses?
I think it is the same as molasses but British. I love the can!

I am so impressed with your tea, Donna! So fun and the treats look yummy! I have to ask where you got the Downton Abbey Teas – as a ‘tea person” I’d love to order a set too (even though it’s missing a Carson’s Daybreak Tea (my made up name).

Thanks! They were a Republic of Tea gift item. I am not sure if it was seasonal or not. Love your made-up name. It was good to see his face and talk to him briefly. He is quick.
