My Mother’s Day

I am not a mother, but I have a great one.  I started, though, by honoring her mother and grandmother with visiting their graves and placing flowers.

Then I met mom for a fancy afternoon tea at Queen Mary’s Tea Room.  I had their English Breakfast tea with milk, and mom had their white chai.  Our first course was three flavors of sorbet (guava, strawberry and boysenberry) with a cookie.

Then came the rest of the courses.

The top plate had carrot ginger and coconut soup, tomato basil and goat cheese quiche, cranberry orange scone, and pork sausage roll.  The second plate had glazed strawberry teabread, lemon bar, butter almond cookie, double chocolate truffle cookie, and fresh fruit.  The bottom plate had Chantilly cream, English cucumber with mint butter tea sandwich, chicken almond with mustard butter tea sandwich, and smoked salmon mousse on rye.  I did get lemon curd to go with the scones.  It was all very good, but we couldn’t finish.  About half went home with us.  But it was a fancy time for us so a great way to spend Mother’s Day.

wow- so much good stuff. like an episode of the Great British Bake Off! 🙂 I’m usually more of a coffee person myself, but I do love that Tetley’s British Blend- which I only came to know through the Full British breakfast to-go that you prepared a few years back!

That’s fun that I had an influence on your beverage choices. I am a coffee person too but sometimes a cup of tea is quite nice.
