First, though, I want to show how well our old manure spreader is doing at growing potatoes.  We are thrilled.

Yesterday I had my infusion for my arthritis.  It kicked my butt more than usual.  On the way home from Everett I decided to pick up dinner (which is unusual for us).  I went to Jerry’s Market in Mount Vernon which has an Indian restaurant inside.  I ordered Samosa Chaat, Aloo Tikki Chaat, Chicken Tikka and Mango Lassi.

I didn’t take photos of our meals, but they were amazing.  For those in the area, I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Doing the chores this morning (which was challenging as I still wasn’t feeling well) I noticed Sonja’s udder and teats are looking a little developed.

Here is a closer look.  She has never been pregnant before so any change is encouraging.

I think she is pregnant, but Tom is not sure.  What do you think?

In other news, I participated in my regular A Taste of Old Colony History zoom today. The recipe was for Portuguese Custard Tarts.  I made the pastry this morning and the custard during the zoom.  Here they are coming out of the oven.

They do not look like much, but they are incredibly good  The crusts are quite flaky and buttery, and the custard is soft and yummy.  This recipe is from a monastery in Portugal that began in 1502.  There is quite a but of Portuguese influence in the Taunton, MA area.  But I found out during this zoom that this is the last one.  They are converting to entirely in person events, and since Taunton is a ways away from me, I will no longer be able to learn culinary history from this museum.  It breaks my heart as I have loved cooking along and learning from this program.  There are still some other zooms in culinary history that I enjoy, but they are not designed to be cooked along with.  So it is the end of an era for me.  But we can enjoy tarts in the meantime.
