Oreo
Oreo, one of our llamas, died last night. We bought him in 2009 as a pack llama. We were not sure of his age. As you can tell, he is a pretty boy. We took walks to practice hiking.
And then went on trips build up his stamina on longer day hikes.
He, like all our llamas, did not like to be shearing and did not like his toes trimmed. But he was better behaved than other llamas we have had. He never spit nor kicked.
We took him on a strenuous hike in 2010, and he did not do that well. After that he has appeared older and skinnier. We have been pampering him with extra food and shelter, but last night he could no longer stand up. He was a good llama and will be missed. And my dreams of hiking with a pack llama die with him as well.

Relaxing at the Back Porch Door,
drinking a cider, petting the old hound dog, barbecuing and listening to the blues. Nothing better in this world.
Except we were listening to Michael Burks, a great bluesman who died today. But we had a great weekend of hard work, plenty of visitors, and the sun came out. Nice way to end a nice weekend.
