Snow!

Snow!
November 27th:

It snowed 8 inches here since yesterday afternoon. We are lucky that we still have power- the trees are all weighted down quite a bit, and we have lost quite a few large branches. The animals are all fine, but we got up every 2 hours through the night to check on the snow. We tried to clear the snow off the barn and garage roof, and the netting over the pheasant pen is particularly weighted down. We had to clean it off every 1.5 to 2 hours during the snowstorm. We just finished sweeping off the cars and moving them out from under the trees. I knocked the snow off the roof of the tarp shelter over the boat, and the snowmobiles are ready to go if needed. Now it’s starting to snow again!

Goat breeding

Goat breeding
November 22nd:

I’ve been spending a fair amount of time waiting for people to bring or pick up goats for breeding. I have two bucks that I’ve been breeding, and they’ve been pretty popular.

On a sad note, my Satin Angora doe died 2 days ago. I found her in her hutch. She was a little on the old side and was a little thin and wasn’t getting pregnant anymore. She otherwise seemed OK so I wasn’t expecting it. I hope she didn’t suffer and I’m glad that I had her as long as I did. She made beautiful babies and gorgeous wool for me.
