37 fleeces!

So now I have 37 fleeces to deal with!  In previous years I have sheared 3-5 sheep per day once or twice per week starting in February and ending in March.  This gave me plenty of time and room to dry, skirt, and then package fleeces before the next shearing.  But this year I have 37 all at once.  I know with other flocks this is a regular occurrence, but I really do not have the space for this, particularly with my step-son moving back home.  So we have fleeces almost everywhere!

Stairway fleeces

Hallway fleeces

Upstairs fiber studio fleeces

Library fleeces

Fiber studio in trailer

Waste wool
And we have the electric heat going in each of these rooms with the windows cracked.  I cannot wait to see the electric bill.

Oh my, all that fleece must just make you swoon! What will you do with the waste wool – will that go to the organizatiton that makes the oil boom things? Looks like you had a good day – you should post some of the pictures on WWdN (in your spare time, of course, ha ha) T.

I am swooning over here- that’s for sure. I advertised the fleeces and now 8 are already spoken for. I need to get them skirted fast!I actually found time to post them on WWdN this morning. Hopefully I’ll get some business from there too!

They’re lovely! They will make some spinners very happy!

It made me chuckle to see your house overrun with fleeces – better you than me! Congrats on having sold eight already; that’s a good percentage!

  5. Donna says:

Thanks for the compliments and the chuckles. Tomorrow the skirting will begin!

donna I am sorry but that is just hilarious! I love the picture of the fleeces going down the stairs. You are blessed to have so many fleeces, and eight of them sold already!Jackie

  7. Donna says:

Well I am glad this is amusing for everyone that I cannot use most of my house- just kidding! But I am looking forward to having my home back soon.

what great photos of the fleeces! Are you able to use any part of the house? 🙂

  9. Donna says:

Thanks for the compliment. We are able to use our downstairs- living room, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen. It’s just the stairway and the entire upstairs is covered. We also have a trailer we now use for storage that is full of wool in one bedroom and bathroom. Today I start skirting and storing the dried fleeces so we will start having a little more room again.
