Yesterday I did not get a chance to formally introduce you to Patches’ four kids. So they are:
Oogie (as I am calling him) is the chilled runt from yesterday. He is still smaller and slower than the others and being bottle fed. But considering his condition when I found him, I think he’s doing well. Miss Smith was the other chilled kid yesterday. She is doing great, fully accepted and cared for by her mother. Swami and frple will be available for sale as wethers at weaning for $75 each.
And I was able to find time to walk the llamas yesterday. Here they are:
They did great. They did not like walking through blackberry vines (but who does?). And they were a little nervous jumping over water. I also did not feed them first so they insisted on stopping to eat the lush grass growing out back. All and all a successful first trip!
Glad to see the babies are all still doing well.
Beautiful kids. Do you use the llamas as pack animals for hiking? I think I’d rather take a goat. They are more to my personality, or maybe my llama is just more grumpy than most.
Thanks guys.
We will be using pack llamas for the first time this summer. I would rather take a goat too but sine we use llamas as guard animals I figured we would also use them to pack. Our goats are way too short to pack with.
I am really tempted to have frple as a house goat. I can see him snuggled on the sofa. Get thee behind me, Satan 🙂
Karen Anne,
your comment really made me laugh. Oogie would make the better house goat, once he gets bigger. He is already getting used to lap sitting and diapers!
On second thought, he would probably be eating the sofa, right?
Nice pictures of the kids! Very pretty! Interesting names too. VERY creative. Glad the kids are doing well. It wouldn’t be spring for you unless you were bottle feeding a kid or 2!

We were really hoping not to have bottle babies this year and we are off to a very poor start. The names are from JP Patches ( in case you did not know), my childhood hero.
My plans of not having bottle kids at least until June haven’t worked out so well either. But I have to admit I love my bottle babies!
They are cute but exhausting. We are wiped out and our lambing/ kidding time has not even started yet!
