Only Kidding

Today was only kidding here at Schoonover Farm.  First Meadowlark had triplets.  Above is Caramello.  She is the runt of the litter but so far holding her own with her two brothers.  Below is Morrison, her red and white brother.

Then there’s Manny, the largest of the group.  He is more tan colored with prominent white markings.  All three have brown eyes and will likely not be polled, so will need disbudding.

Then Magpie delivered triplets, but one doeling did not make it.  The other doeling is Mavis, below.  We will likely keep her ourselves to preserve the memory of her grandmother, Dot, my first Nigerian goat.  She resembles her.

Then she also had Moglee.  He is black and white like his mother and sister but has more gold on his back.  Both of them appear to be polled and have blue eyes.

There is only one more doe to go but still three ewes.  Chronic sleep deprivation is getting bad now so hopefully this does not go on too much longer.  But we have some really cute goats to show for our efforts.  For more information and photos go to our Kids for Sale page.

    what beautiful kids you have!

Polled is nice as disbudding is not fun for anyone involved.

Thanks Chai Chai! The only problem with polled is sometimes you think they are polled and then a few weeks later notice some horn growth. But I do hate disbudding even with the vet doing it with sedation and local pain killer. I have not had any losses from it so far. Plus you are not supposed to breed polled to polled.

Thanks Tina! They are quite flashy. There will be cuter photos later today on the Kids for Sale page. Once they start jumping around, they are irresistible.
