Goat Pimping and other Farm News

Once again we are goat pimping.  That is selling the favors of our bucks.  Above is Sera and Pippa in with Bumble with our Shorty, and below is Margaret in with Yahoo alongside our Meadowlark.

In other news, we released a chick being raised by its mother from the feed shed.  She is a beautiful little hen of unknown parentage.  Fortunately her mom is keeping a watch on her as she navigates her way through the barn and flock.

I am still trying to figure out what color Shaun is.  Here he is in contrast to Monette, one of our grey ewes.

Finally we are expecting 5 inches of rain this week.  Wish us luck that we do not wash away.

Shaun is a really unusual color- kind of a smoky brown as I remember. very cool. a very distinctive fleece!

Thanks Denise! The lady who bought his fleece this year was very happy with it and its color. But I do not know what to call it in Shetland terms. It is not mioget, moorit or dark brown. I post recently about it on a facebook Shetland sheep list. and the consensus was that it is emsket but I think it is brown factored, not black.
