Bluesie the Floosie

is what we affectionately call our camper van.  My grandfather gave this van to us before he died, and it is one of our most cherished possessions.  But (like us) she is getting old and in need of work.  So Tom has been working hard on it.  He replaced the timing chain and gears, the radiator, removed the AC, and replaced all the hoses and belts.  Then he brought it is to Pike’s Automotive where they replaced the brake master cylinder, replaced the exhaust manifold (that Tom had found) and rebuilt the carburetor.  Now she purrs.  Today Tom checked the tire pressures, the fluid, and cleaned her inside and out.  We are SO looking forward to road trips this summer!

Bluesie and Tom

While Tom was looking at Bluesie, I did the animal chores including brushing the rabbits.

Hutches amd mattsThey did not like this.  They had a few mats (which is what you see on the ground in front of their hutches).  They ended up with bald spots. The way they acted you would have thought they were being attacked which they weren’t.  But I guess from their perspective it was like that.  I ended up worse than they did though.

rabbit damageAt least they do not have mats anymore and will be cooler when the hot weather hits.  I also mowed two fields.  For some reason I love mowing fields with the tractor.  I do not know if it is the rhythm of it, the ability to watch wildlife, or the geometry of mowing a field perfectly.  But it is somewhat hypnotizing.  I took a photo of the tractor with the mower behind it before I started.  I have learned not to take my camera with me when I mow (see The End of an Era).

tractorAll in all a successful but exhausting day.

Wow – I had no idea that a rabbit could do so much skin damage. Could you use one of those Furminators on them? T.
