Fire, Fire on the Mountain

So nearby Chuckanut Mountain is on fire.  Per the latest report it “grew from about 3 acres to about 60 acres within 24 hours due to hot, low humidity conditions coupled with wind….It’s extreme fire behavior up there because it’s burning an old logging slash and standing timber.”  In addition, we have a lot of smoke here also from the BC fires.  So it is a hazy mess here.

In addition to the smoke, it is also quite hot for us.  The sheep are hanging out in the shade.

The pigs are covered in mud from their wallow.

The donkeys do not seem to mind.

It took forever to get the chores done today with all the water I had to replace.  I will be glad when this is over, and I can breathe again.

PS.  I am just enamored with our goslings.  Aren’t those the cutest little fuzzy butts you ever saw?!?

I am over ready. Everyone is hungry for grass. And the watering everything is getting quite old. Sprinkling does not seem to do any good.

Stay safe. Hope things get under control soon. I love gosling butts! They are some of the cutest babies ever.

Thanks Teresa! As of this morning the local fire is 60% contained so as long as the wind doesn’t pick up we should be ok. Thank you firefighters! The goslings learned how to swim this morning too.
