Front Yard Pruning

Almost two weeks ago Tom noticed the base of one of our large Silver Maples was rotting and due to split. We did not want to repeat the experience of one year ago when the base of a large cottonwood split, and the tree took out 1/3 of our barn. And this time it was our Dodge Camper Van in harm’s way!

So we hired a tree specialist to take it down and other large trees threatening our van, carport, produce stand, and electric & cable wires. We had to coordinate with the electric and cable companies to cut our service during this operation.

Here are some photos of our tree guy in action yesterday:

And here are photos from today including the appearance of our front yard.

The bucket truck needed repair work with only one hour of tree work left, and the snow is coming down hard now. So we will resume hopefully tomorrow. Plus we are picking up a chipper this afternoon. It will be a long cold weekend.

good thing you caught it before it came down on it’s own! hey- I see Steve there in the last photo- how is the boy settling in?

Glad you got it before it came down on it’s own. We had a young beautiful maple come down that had to be totally removed. Thankfully, it broke only our hearts, no damage to our house. Sadly, we weren’t able to find a replacement just like it with the same colors.
