Post Christmas

We are winding down from the flurry that was Christmas.  We had the grandkids over 2 days later to hang out and work on William’s motorcycle.  We gave the gingerbread house to the chickens.  Here they are starting to peck at it.

The turkey photobombed my picture of it.

Piper wanted to watch videos so we watched Grammar Rock and some J.P. Patches.

She also wanted to play with my Muppet’s Swedish Chef kit.  It was so cute!

Meanwhile Tom and William were working on his bike.

Later on Wednesday afternoon, here is the progress the chickens were making on the house.

I put up one of my favorite gifts.

And Tom tested out the bike.  Apparently it is now running well.  It will need a new chain and sprocket in the near future.

Piper played some by herself including with her new gift, a coin bank. Tom donated his coins to it.

Tom brought the grandkids back home again Thursday while I worked.  On Friday mornings, when I got home, this is what remained of the gingerbread house.

I did have a couple of cans inside to stabilize the walls when I was gluing them together.  I helped with the chores and admired Summer with her cute little horns.

Yesterday I took down most of the Christmas decorations, and today we took the tree out of the house.  Tom cut it into two pieces, giving one to the goats and one to the sheep.

The chickens got more leftover treats.  There are no pigs this year so the chickens are getting spoiled.

On a different topic I finished my book, No Idle Hands.

It was given to me a few years ago by my cousins for Christmas, and I finally got around to reading it.  It is a fascinating book.  It covers knitting history in the United States from colonial times, through British resistance, knitting for soldiers in multiple wars, though the depression, and many fashion trends.  Unfortunately for me it ended in 1988 so did not cover the resurgence of knitting in the new millennium  I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it.

love the pictures- especially the turkey photobomb and Summer with her cute tiny horns! Our tree will probably go out to the sheep a little later today. Wishing you all a happy New Year!
