Birds Growing Up

Our young chickens and turkeys are maturing. I put leg bands on the hatchery and our hatched chickens and released them into the barn. We haven’t had any more losses with our newly secured barn and are not seeing the bobcat on our back fence camera any more. Hopefully it moved on.

Here are some of the hatchery chickens:

And a mixture of the hatchery and our hatched birds:

I am keeping the young turkeys and Mr. Pink in the weasel proof pen for now.

Mr. Pink is looking good.

I am realizing which hens were likely killed by the bobcat, and it includes the hens that hatched and raised the chicks including the white turken hen. So I feel bad that I didn’t protect them better.

I’m so sorry you lost so many of your feathered friends. Especially the ones who were especially sweet. How many turkens are left now? I lost track of them. I hope there will be no more deaths among your flocks.
