First off though, last night we went to The Old Edison to see one of our favorite performers, Margaret Wilder. She was great, as always.
One issue with watching a band in a bar is there is some interference. In this case, the nice man (a regular there) that we were hanging out with decided to put his beer in front of my phone when I was trying to record Margaret.
Fortunately I was able to capture another portion of the song. She has a lot of her own music but also kills covers.
This morning, doing the animals chores, I noticed yet again how much the peafowls love being on the barn roof.
Of course, I wanted to check on Fidalgo. He was hanging out in a bare spot in the pasture where the cow scratcher (street cleaner brush) used to be. He seemed content there.
Of course, the sheep were on the other side of the field. He is a beautiful animal. The photos don’t do him justice.
On thing I do every summer, which drives Tom crazy, is put out lounge chairs. I do it so it feels like summer, and we might actually lounge. We never actually do, and all they do is get in the way of Tom’s mowing. But today Wally decided to lounge. So I feel it is all worth it.
Today’s big task for me was washing the windows. I have been wanting to do this all summer but something gets in the way like weather, Tom not being around in case I fall off the ladder, or other more important priorities. But today was the day. I climbed up the ladder multiple times cleaning all of our windows except one to the attic which we never look out anyway. One problem I have is a glaze on the library window. I think it is from Windex I put on one year when it was hot and in the sun. But now I can’t remove it. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know (for next year). Happy to have this major (and somewhat dangerous) task completed.
Then I took it somewhat easy and prepared green beans while watching the Seahawks game.
Then I finished knitting a hat during the game. This is a Shetland Wool Week hat that I wanted to get done before the week starts (7 days from now). I haven’t never gone (except virtually in the pandemic). Hopefully I will be be able to someday, but in the meantime I can knit their hats.
Unfortunately I choose the wrong colors for my hat. I used some of my handspun Gotland yarn and then some yarns from my stash with varying colors. This is supposed to be a Shetland ram’s head which you can barely see.
I would have been better off with a more contrasting background color and single colored yarns to emphasize the patterns. But here is my hat drying. Hopefully it will fit well.
In exciting news, I have my first walnut from the walnut tree I planted here a long time ago. Last year was the first year I noticed walnuts from it, but I never got any. I found this one in amongst the bean plants when I was picking them this morning.
I am making Bourbon-Braised Beef for dinner. I am using our beef and carrots. Hopefully it turns out well.

I like your hat!! It’s pretty.
I hope your alpaca and the sheep will get along.
I am glad you like the hat. I tried it on today and it fits. Just doesn’t cover my ears well. I hope they do too.
At least I hope they ignore each other. 🙂 That is getting along enough.
Hat IS pretty.
So far the sheep remain scared of the alpaca. I am glad that you like the hat.
