Yogurt, Roofing and Peafowl

First off, remember that I said it rained on Wednesday. Well, here is how much we got.  Crazy amounts for us here.

Our friends Willow and Adelia were by this last week, and Willow bought the wool fleeces from me to make really cool felted dolls.  They brought me some raw cows milk as a present.  So yesterday and today I made yogurt.  It is really good!  Next I plan to make fromage blanc and kefir.

Today the weather was nice.  So Tom opted to finish the roof section over the trailer that he had been working on this summer.  With that rain, there was a lot of leaking in the hallway and bathroom areas.  Here he is creating the pearlings.

He is uncovering the old broken skylight over the old bathroom.

And laying down the metal roofing.

It is looking good and should stop the leaks in these areas.  We are so happy this is done.

And this afternoon we visit our friends Dan and Patty  We picked up two young peafowl.  They are a brother and sister, roughly 4 month old.  Once again I am surprised that Tom agreed to this.   Here they are on the way to their new home.

I moved them to the weasel-proof pen and opened the door.

And later they were roosting, checking out their new home.  I am hoping they will get comfortable here before I release them, and the other peafowl will adopted them.

On the way to the barn this evening, the sunset was illuminating the clouds.

The turkeys actually gathered together for a photo.  Usually they are pretty scattered.

And the clouds looked even prettier over the sheep.

And Ryeleigh proved that she is the best napper.

For dinner we are enjoying really great smoked baby back ribs from Silvana Meats.  They are amazing.  Tom picked them up yesterday when he got our smoked pork.  Highly recommended.

    Ryeleigh…snug as a bug in a rug. 🙂

  2. A busy and full day that photo of sweet Ryeleigh napping is a perfect way to end it — along with a delicious meal too!!

I’m glad you got those beautiful young peafowl. I hope they fit in very soon, with the others.

Your cloud pictures are sooo beautiful!!!

Do you have a yogurt maker? Or do you do the old fashioned way?

Yes, those woofies can really snooze. Rico’s preferred napping place is on a lap –either mine or my daughter’s.

    Tom is a good worker.

    Take care!
