Queen’s Puff and Elvis

I decided to make Queen’s Puff for dinner.  It is a recipe from Sunset magazine, and I was able to use our eggs, thyme, green onions and Swiss chard (instead of spinach).  Plus I used the breakfast sausages I purchased from Glondo’s in Cle Elum.  I had one of our favorite radio stations WEVL on while I was making this.  And Rock House with Lonnie came on.  He plays rockabilly music.  But apparently every year during the week of Elvis’ birthday he does a tribute to him.  We had never caught it before, but it was a fun 2 hours of Elvis music.  Here’s one of his early songs while I was browning the sausages.

Both Tom and I remember hearing about Elvis’ death.  Tom was picking raspberries in Whatcom County, and I was at a friend’s carport in Bellevue.  It was a big deal in 1977.

The puff came out well.  It is supposed to be a breakfast dish but made a nice comforting dinner.

P.S. I finished this book today.  It is an amazing translated diary from Normandy France in WWII.  She described her daily observations during the German occupation and after D-day with British troops then occuping her house.  She describes the terrors of the weaponry and the horrors of war.  She also talks about the suffering of the animals which is not often mentioned.  It really made you imagine what it would be like in a war.  Thankfully I have never experienced this and hope never to.  Highly recommended.

It is tasty although not very healthy. I believe it is the owner’s name. I am a little surprised that I do remember as I wasn’t a big fan at that time. The book is on Amazon for $13. I will have to look up your book.
