It’s Been a Little Nordic Around Here Recently

It’s been in the low 20’s in the mornings recently.  The peafowl like to sun themselves next to the barn windows.

And you can see the animals’ breathe.  This is Fidalgo and the best photo I could get of the breath.

Now it is not really Nordic here as these are the temperatures in the region of my Swedish relatives.

On Christmas Eve I hatched  plan for the family to go to the Seattle Kraken Nordic Night.

I heard about it from the Swedish Club Newsletter, as I am a member.  So my mother, uncle, aunt, cousins, Tom and I got tickets to the hockey game for last evening.  On the way there, Tom, Ryeleigh and I visited the graves of my Swedish grandmother and great-grandparents.  I put some flowers out.

We dropped the beagle off with my stepdad and picked up my mother.

Then we headed to the Swedish Club’s 3 Crowns Bar and met up with my aunt and uncle.  Two cousins decided to meet us at the game.  We had lovely dinners at the bar (mostly Swedish meatballs).  Apparently my grandmother used to make Swedish Meatballs when the Swedish relatives visited.  I remember the relatives but not the meatballs.  My mom is going to hook me and my aunt with her recipe so we can make it ourselves.

There are incredible views at this bar.  I absolutely love this place and hope others do as well.  The building has fun architecture and amazing views of Lake Union and downtown Seattle.

We ubered to the arena, picked up our Nordic hats and watched the game.  Tom took this photo of the 6 of us there.

It was definitely a raucous environment and fun.  Our seats weren’t great, but you could really see the rink and complexities of the game.  We lost, but I think played respectably against a tough team.

We got home late last night but had an amazing time.

In unrelated news, the tom turkey I chose for breeding may not be the brightest.  I am hoping he gets it sorted out.

And having finished the Shetland series, now I am binge watching This Farming Life with the remains of my Britbox streaming month.  It shows farms in Scotland including one on Orkney.  It has been fun to watch and recommended.

We were able to attend local hockey games when we lived in Canada. They were a real blast! More fun, in my opinion, than football.

We learned about the game of curling, and my husband even started playing. I enjoyed watching those games.

You had a really great time, when you went to the Kraken game. Way to go!

I am glad you were able to enjoy hockey and curling when you were in Canada. Both sports that I didn’t grow up with but now want to know more about.
