Out and About on a Beautiful Sunny Day

Tom and I had a rare day out together today.

But first, I worked on Thursday.  Here is a beautiful sunrise as I was leaving for work.

That day, Tom fashioned a small motorcycle stand.  It is working quite well for him.

On Friday morning, when I got home from work, we did the animals chores.  It is impressive how sunshine makes everything look nicer.  I was admiring Harlen’s pretty wool.

Then he looked up and melted my heart.

One of our young peacocks is looking colorful as well.

That day, Tom grafted two of his apple trees.  This is one of them.

I admired these snowdrops walking back to the house from the barn chores this morning.

Then we headed to the Washington State Toy Show in Everett.

Tom checked out the many Hot Wheels stalls.  And he found what he was looking for.

I was trying to find the City Dump Store there.  I was able to find it and buy some great J.P. Patches items.

Here is a photo of J.P. back in the day at this show.

Then we headed to La Conner and had lunch.  We went to the Calico Cupboard there and were able to eat outside.  It was wonderful.

Here’s our amazing lunch.

Then we took Ryeleigh for a walk around town.

Here’s a nice view of the Rainbow Bridge.

Then we headed to the Pacific Northwest Quilt & Fiber Arts Museum to see the The Red Dress.  It was truly incredible.

We headed to the third floor to the Tower Room to see the views.

Then went back to the first floor to see the Birds of a Fiber exhibit.  It was fun.

Then we headed to the Skagit County Historical Museum.  They had a new uranium glass exhibit.

There is a Franklin motorcycle built in Mount Vernon.  This is the only complete one known to exist.

I went out to the balcony to check out the view.  I live in a beautiful place.

I then checked out a 1894 map of Skagit County, focusing on our area to the east of Belfast.

There was a new exhibit about the Northern State Hospital, another interest of mine.

We took the scenic route home, and the bird watchers were all out, parked along the side of the road, endangering motorists yet again.

We went to our post office, and I picked up my package from Lush.  They have limited edition Shaun the Sheep items so I had to buy them.  Here are my presents to myself.

We picked up a take home dinner from Brando’s next to our post office.  It was a lovely day.

Donna, I loved this whole post! Thanks very much for sharing your day! I would love so much to see all those places and things. That red dress is fabulously beautiful!! I wonder how many yards of fabric were used in making it!

And yes, you do live in a wonderfully beautiful place!

I’m impressed with Tom’s bike rack. Be sure and tell him.

Fiddley must have been beautiful, in order to have such beautiful fleece.

I am glad you enjoyed it, Jeanne! The red dress was amazing and quite a few yards of French red silk. I told Tom you like his rack. I am not sure who Fiddley is though. I am using Diddley’s wool in weaving now, but he is very much alive.

  2. Thank you for taking us along on your excursion; it was fascinating!
