My 60th Birthday

I decided to go to our Boles Aero trailer for my birthday.  Before we left though, I noticed blooming daffodils in our front yard.

We arrived at the cabin Friday afternoon with the trailer holding the quad and cinder blocks to relevel our Boles Aero trailer.

Tom proceeded to put up the TV antenna I bought for him for Christmas from the Cle Elum Radio Shack.

We were able to get 30 channels well now for free.  Tom proceeded to watch March Madness.

On Saturday morning I took the dogs for a walk.  Here is a panorama view from the road to the west of us

On a Saturday afternoon walk with the dogs I saw about 40 deer above us.  I visited the old settlers cabin that burned down when dad’s cabin did.  There are a couple of pine trees growing in it now.

Here is dad’s new cabin on the way back.

And closer.

I had the bright idea of doing an inaugural dinner in the cabin for my birthday.  Mo and dad set up the table on a piece of plywood on saw horses.  We spread a tablecloth on top with paper plates but real flatware and napkins and called it a perfect dinner table.

Tom made Owen’s Meats filet mignons, asparagus and Yukon gold potatoes.  It was all excellent.

Here are Mo’s photos of the participants.

There was a pretty sunset over the outhouse.

And I got to blow out birthday candles over a coconut cake.  We also had cherry pie.

Some of the steak juices spilled on the plywood table and looked like a bunny.  I am curious where this bunny on plywood will end up in this cabin building project.

After dinner we had a nice bonfire.

Then the Yakima Military Base decided to send up flares for my birthday (not really but they were nice flares).

Sunday morning on the dog walk I spotted more flowers.  My PicureThis plant app called this Sagebrush buttercup.

And this one is a Bigseed biscuitroot.

My brother’s cat Buddy recently died and was buried where his castle used to be before the fire.  Sue and him made this lovely grave marker for him.

I bought myself a Life magazine dated March 26, 1965 for my birthday.  Here is a funny advertisement from it.

Steve loves the cabin.  He hangs out and guards us.

On Sunday, Tom and I put painted siding on the cabin.  It is Seafoam green like the old cabin was.

The downhill neighbor’s dog Chevette came to visit us.  Steve loves it when she visits.

Here’s the progress we made on the front of the cabin.

Here’s the side of the cabin.

Here’s the back of the cabin with our siding.

Chevette tried to say hi to Ryeleigh, but she was not having it.

On this morning’s walk with the dogs, I noticed these bushes that had a really wonderful spicy odor.  My PictureID app said it was Snowbrush Ceanothus.

I noticed the cabin a neighbor to the east is building (to the right).  He hasn’t made nearly as much progress as dad.  Rick build a large shop (to the left) and it seems to be complete already.

I tried to take video fo the Meadowlarks singing.  Unfortunately you can hear Ryeleigh sniffing in the video.

I tried again with this Northern Flicker call (per my Merlin Bird ID app).

Walking back looking at the support space for the neighbor’s build, I noted that the outhouse has tipped over.  That can never be good.

I had been getting some reading and knitting done during this birthday trip.  It was nice to relax a little.

So we are safely home after a brief visit with Al who is really making great progress.  It was a nice birthday celebration, but now I have to get used to being 60.
