Barn Roof Heron and Secret Fried Fish

Tom heard a thud on the barn roof this morning and then saw this:

This is the first time that I know of that one of the GBHs has been on our roof.

I slept most of the day after working last night. So Tom made dinner for us.  He used the recipe Secret Fried Halibut.  He bought halibut for himself and wild sockeye salmon for me.  We didn’t have any mayonnaise (I had been making it recently) so he used Italian dressing in place of the secret sauce.

salmon

It was a great dinner.

Mixed Berry Clafoutis

I used this recipe to make this for dessert 2 days ago.  It was a way to get rid of our frozen raspberries and blueberries to give room in the freezer for this year’s crop.  Plus it seemed to have low amounts of flour and sugar,  And I could used our eggs.  This is the lower portion of it baked in the cast iron skillet.

And here it is all baked.  I probably should have cooked it a little longer.

And here it is on my plate.  Tom had secretly purchased some Acme vanilla ice cream which went great on it.

Northwest Mopars Cruise

So Tom found out about this cruise yesterday.  We got up early.  I did the farm chores and Tom washed the Challenger.  And off we went to the Cascade Mall Parking lot.

Then we headed over Deception Pass to Whidbey Island.

We then went to the Deception Pass State Park by Cranberry Lake.

Then we headed to Oak Harbor, kitty corner to the Oak Harbor Dodge dealership that normally hosts the Mopar car show.

We then cruised over toward Fort Casey State Park.  En route a car pulled out in front of the second Duster ahead of us.  They had to lock up their brakes to avoid hitting him.  It would have been ugly if a Mopar had been hurt on this cruise.

There we parked by the fort.

Unfortunately we did not realize (because there were no signs) that you can’t park on this section of grass.  The park rangers started handing out tickets to some of us.

Then we headed back to Mount Vernon.  (I accidentally switched the setting to black and white for a few photos.)

We ended up at the Burgermaster there.

It was a great day!
