Today was the day.  Eight goat kids were disbudded, and many were also banded.  To ease my conscience and hopefully alleviate some suffering, our vet did this with the aid of sedation and lidocaine.  Here they are sleeping it off.

These are the lambs so far this spring.  We are expecting more in mid-May.  I am thinking that the Gotland % ewe lamb above is actually very dark brown.  You can see it when you look at her face.  So I am excited about that.  There’s more information and photos about these lambs at our Lambs for Sale page.

Starting at 4 AM, Tanya, our Gotland ewe, labored and gave birth to these twins.  There is a grey ewe and black ram lambs.  By the time she was done and they had nursed, the moon was setting, the sun was starting to rise and the birds were singing.  It was beautiful, but I still wished I was in my warm, comfy bed.  But now lambing is over (for one month) and we can sleep through the night!
