2nd flood charity auction and Washington Wool web site

2nd flood charity auction and Washington Wool web site
We (the NW Shetland group) have started the 2nd auction to try to help the sheep farms affected by the floods in Lewis county. Here’s the info:

I am writing to let everyone know about the new on-line Fundraiser auction that the NW Shetland Sheep owners are having to benefit the Black Sheep Creamery, who suffered immense damage during the December flooding in Lewis County. Our first auction in December raised over $4000 and we are hoping that this one will be as successful.

Among the items for auction are: LOTS of wool -Shetland, Icelandic, pygora, alpaca, musk ox(!) either processed and raw; Icelandic fleeces (they are beautiful!); a Nilus LeClerc 4 Shaft Floor Loom, used; woven wool and mohair scarves; a sock knitting book; As of this evening there are over three dozen items (5 dozen if you count all the scarves).

Even if you are not a spinner, THERE ARE MANY ITEMS OF GENERAL INTEREST including an exquisite wooden box and items like felted soap, a customized Hand Built Scale Model Farm Truck or Sedan Delivery; a felt hat for your dog or one for yourself; speaking of dogs, there are also some beautiful scratchboard dog portraits (you have to see them, hard to explain) – anyhow, lots of NICE things and the funds raised will benefit a good cause.

The auction also launches our new web site – http://www.washingtonwool.net – it will be a co-op for wool growers of all kind in Washington state. I hope everyone will check out the auction – who knows, the fiber for your next project could be just a click away!

The link to the auction is on the Washington Wool website is

We are thinking there won’t be as many server problems with this page.

At the same time we are establishing the Washington Wool web site to educate and advertise our products- no just for Shetland sheep. It’s a lot to take on but there is A LOT of interest in both so we’re thrilled.
