New pack llamas

So we purchased three pack llamas today. We have had guard llamas but have been looking for packing animals to help us with hiking and hunting. We found these wonderful animals that had been used for packing for years. They are quite well behaved and beautiful. Here’s Chance:

Here’s Oreo:
And here’s Walker:
We also got pack gear in the deal. Here are some of the panniers and pads:
And here’s a couple of the 5 packs:
So we are set. All we need now is a trailer and a trail!

They are very nice looking llamas! I just purchased a young female to train to be a pack llama! So good yours are already trained.

Thanks Vicki, Yes that is what I was looking for. I found I did not have the time to train a llama myself and so it fell by the wayside, like so many things. So this way all we need to do is buy a trailer and we are set.

    Thanks Jackie and Corinne,
We are enjoying getting to know our new llamas and imagine great summertime hikes while it is blustery out. I will check out next.

Did you know that Marybeth B. had a pack llama business in Sedona before moving to OR? Here she was, just over the rim from us and I never knew it. 🙂 I remember seeing her while I was in Sedona one day with relatives long ago. It’s a small world.
So…where’s the first hike going to be??? 🙂

Congrats on your llamas! They are nice looking boys. I’ll be anxious to hear about your adventures!

Thanks Kathy and Terri, I did not know Marybeth had a pack llama business. Our first hike will be practice ones on the back of our property and then likely to Lily Lake which is a few miles away. Our ultimate goal is to hike a portion of the Pacific Crest Trail from one pass to another. We haven’t chosen which ones yet though. Now in the dark of winter (well, late fall) we can read and dream about it!
