Last Kidding

Mockingbird laying downSo Meadowlark kidded in the wee hours of the morning.  Tom called it stealth birth because he found Mockingbird already clean, dry and fed by the 2 AM barn check.  She is doing great.  It is bittersweet though since this will be the last kidding at Schoonover Farm ever.  I am thankful for the cute healthy kids we have had over these last 12 years but will not miss the nighttime barn checks.  We still have one ewe to go then we can sleep.

Congratulations Donna. I know it is bittersweet, although know that some of us may have never had goats if it wasn’t for you;) Mr. Boris S Wart is our baby and he will always have a home here. He is one of our 12 now, and 15 kids on the ground, thanks in part to you for your knowledge and wisdom in the goat field. I appreciate you and know that I will have many sleepless nights for you!

Thanks Krista! Our goats have gone to many more great homes like yours than nasty ones. I am glad Boris S Wart is doing so well. You can have my sleepless nights 😉

The nightly checks are a lot easier without the snow drifts! It always amazes me how the animals seem to hold off until we aren’t watching.
