We had a big storm yesterday with a lot of wind and rain (2 inches per my Grampa’s rain gauge). We did not lose any major trees nor lost electricity. But our ditches are inundated, and our pastures are flooded. Plus the temperature dropped significantly.
This is the day we decided to press apples. Tom says he is 80% sure this is the last pressing for hard cider this year. He has 111 gallons total, and his goal was 100. He filled a 15 gallon water container he converted to a carboy for the first time.
My fingers were numb at the end. Now we are going to relax in a nice warm house and watch football.
We will be pressing again at the Holiday Festival Saturday, Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Beau Lodge 17581 Wood Rd., Bow. So bring your apples for pressing. I sure hope it is warmer then!
