One of my great fears is losing out water supply. This happened to us yesterday. Our water pump gave up the ghost, and we had no water during a heat wave. I had to bucket water for the animals, the garden, the toilet and the shower. Great fun! Tonight we got a new pump, and it is working well. That shower felt SO GOOD!
The other event of the day is that the produce stand is back open. I picked our golden egg plums and added zucchini, cucumbers and pumpkins. The damaged plums are going to the pigs and the chickens. The pigs seem to like them.
I used the fruit equipment we received for Christmas, and it helped a lot.
And Mopar helped by guarding me in the orchard while I picked the plums.
We had a pump that looked just like the one in your picture, this time we went with an submersible pump. We went through three pumps in five years enough now we don’t have to worry if the water table drops pump is in the water. Ellen from Georgia
Thanks Ellen! I am glad to hear your pump problems are solved. Our well is only 7 feet so I do not think a submersible well is going to work for us. So far our water supply has not been a problem (often the problem is over-supply) but this summer’s drought may prove me wrong.
Our pump motor burned up one very hot summer evening. We had company, and I kept smelling something burning. 6 kids and 4 adults was just too much for it. This was on a Saturday, and we had to wait untill Monday for a new pump motor. Back than no company was open on the weekends. We hauled water from the neighbors for the livestock. My but life got hectic some times.
Thanks Chloe! That sounds like a fun weekend. We just had to drive to Home Depot to get our pump, but twice because we had to get the ejector kit (sold separately). And thankfully I had stored some water up (like I always do in case of emergency). So it wasn’t as bad as it could have been.
