So in 2013 I was listening to Weekday on KUOW and they were talking about the commercial about farmers that had just played during the Super Bowl. Here is the commercial
They commented that they did not understand why it was a truck commercial, that trucks are not farm equipment. This was my last straw with KUOW. The comments seemed both arrogant and ignorant. I know we are small potatoes, but we used our farm truck for many things: hauling livestock, bringing home equipment, moving hay, as well as for recreation. Everyday I see trucks used for farming here.
But our farm truck is now old and needs to retire. The mechanic says we cannot trust it for towing or long distances any more. So we need to say goodbye to our truck.

Now old farm truck
So today we purchased a new farm truck to replace our old one. It is sad saying goodbye to the old one, but fun to say hello to the new one. We drove to Idaho and stayed in Wallace.

Welcome new farm truck!
We’re also small potatoes but it was the purchase of our truck that signalled we were taking our way of life seriously. May you travel safely in your new one 😊
Thank you! As much as this cost, we must be serious. And may you travel safely in yours too.

congrats on the new truck! I don’t usually listen to KUOW, so i’d missed their response to the commercial, but I suspect I would have reacted the same way. Trucks may not be just for farming – but for a farmer, a reliable truck is really essential. If they don’t get that, and think a truck is just a fashion statement, then they’ve probably been living in a city bubble for too long.
Thanks Denise! We live our new truck so far. But it will eventually be beaten up like our current truck is. But we appreciate all the hard work the trucks do for us.

I’m angry right along with you in regards to the radio station and I would have to have called, emailed, or called them on with Facebook!! How do they think we get around in our day to day chores without a truck, a bicycle??? Some people are so lame and don’t think about what they say to a an audience that is getting more and more fed up with their “studpidity”!!!
I’ve had my rant and hope you and your family have a great weekend!
Rita
Thanks Rita! I just tend to protest with my feet (in this case ears). I completely understand your rant because that is likely what I said to the poor radio at the time.
Congrats on the new truck! Our 20 year old Ford is still going strong, well, strong enough for now.
Thanks! Our Dodge lasted 15 years but we abused it. This new truck is designed better for what we need to do.
