March Hay

We try to have full rations of hay from mid October to mid March and partial rations for about one month before and after this. Thanks to the butcher who was two months late with our bull, we are now out.

There is some two year old partially moldy hay in the hay barn that the geese wanted to check out.

So we had to buy hay today. Twenty bales for $250. Ouch! We are hoping the grass will start growing quickly now.

In other news, Steve seems to be settling in. He does not like going in the house so wants to be an outdoor dog. He is learning the rules about gates and farm animals. He is very active and playful.

Oooh, so sorry about the hay supply! I was worried about ours at first, but I think we’ll be okay.
