Final Day of the Train Trip

I woke up in the train crossing the Columbia on the Rock Island Railroad Bridge and then heading alongside the Columbia. How cool is that?

I have been long fascinated with this river, particularly it’s history. So to wake up beside it was magical.

Then we headed west over the Cascades where the leaf colors are starting to change.

Here is what it is like on the other side of the Cascade Tunnel. What a difference a mountain range makes.

I managed to finishing hand knitting the bind offs and toes for 4 pairs of Auto Knitter socks of my trip.

This morning at breakfast with a couple from Wisconsin I learned about the Railroad Passengers Association. I will look into it. Our long distance passenger trains and the great people that work on them need to be supported.

I would encourage you to take one of these train trips. You get to see scenery and meet people you otherwise wouldn’t, and it is amazingly relaxing.

Wow, Donna; just saw the photos of your Jocko wheel on the Olympic Spinning Wheels blog!!!

I was going to make it a surprise blog post after I pick it up on Saturday. I was not sure if anyone would notice it was mine. What do you think Michelle? Do you like it?

      • Michelle says:

Yes! But I’m sure the little photos don’t do it justice. I want to see it up close, examine all the neat little details, admire the woodgrain (and Jocko’s lock!). I’ve admired every Olympic wheel and can’t imagine having to choose just what I would want him to feature, but I really like what you chose to feature on yours. Love the sculpted Jocko head – and the front “legs”!

Thanks Michelle. I can’t wait to see it in person tomorrow and spin on it!
