Rosalie and Truffle

We picked up two young pigs today. One is a Hereford, and the other is a Berkshire. Here they are coming home.

On the way home, I started to think about names. I googled famous pigs, and I learned about Rosalie and Truffle. So this is what I named them (and I ordered the book).

We moved them into the pen that all of our previous young pigs have gone to.

For the first time, they managed to escape for their pen. Tom found them in our far field, after going through 4 fences. One more fence and they would have been coyotes’ dinner. We rounded them up and put them in a pen in the barn. They will have to stay there for now.

That one line pretty much sold us a copy of the book. That is SO funny. Your piggies are adorable.

They’re really cute, but I don’t know anything about the breeds. I guess I’ll have to look online..

Thanks Jeanne! We usually have Hereford pigs (until last year) but have never had Berkshire pigs before. They are supposed to have more flavorful and marbled meat. We shall see. So far they are just escape artists. So not too impressed.
