I have now been diagnosed with Adrenal Insufficiency based on my ACTH stimulation study results. There is information about this condition here. It is probably because of the prednisone used to treat my reactive arthritis but not confirmed yet. I now have to continue the prednisone another 6-7 months and get retested to see if I have recovered. I am also being prescribed fludrocortisone. This may explain my fatigue, shortness of breath and palpitations. But I am not happy about continuing the prednisone during this pandemic where my vaccinations may not have helped me. But at least I feel closer to answers.

Donna, I’m sorry about this! However, it’s better to know what you’re facing. I need to read it all again, to get a better understanding of it all. I’ve never heard of fludrocortisone. I’ll be keeping you in prayer.

So sorry, but glad you are finally getting some answers. I know my son-in-law spent the last two years going through a million tests and scans until his rare condition was finally diagnosed. He doesn’t feel a lot better, but emotionally he is much better because the fretting about the unknown has stopped. ❤️💕

Donna, you only need the dose of Cortisone that your adrenal gland isn’t producing. If you are on BOTH Prednisone and Fludrocortisone you are most likely getting too much Cortisone. The book should help you. You may have to cut the Cortisones down a little at a time until you are at a more comfortable lower dose. Talk with your doctor about this too.

Thanks Aunt Ruthie!!! He is starting the Fludrocortisone because I am struggling so much with the 7.5 mg of prednisone now. I am hoping I will adjust with time and be able to wean more. I have the book on order so thanks for the suggestion.
